A lot has been said about Patrick Mahomes and his NFL draft stock, but he isn't the only prospect at quarterback who spent time in a Red Raider uniform.

Former Texas Tech signal caller Davis Webb is also in the mix to be drafted in the 2017 NFL draft.

Even before the NFL Combine, one NFL executive said that Davis Webb, "would be the best NFL quarterback in this draft class." It's also been said that Webb has a better arm than Jared Goff, last season's number one overall pick. And Webb obviously has the size of an elite NFL quarterback, coming in at 6'4".

But it's not all good news for Webb. Walterfootball.com says: "Webb suffers from poor decision-making. He needs to do a better job of working through his progressions as he far too often pre-determined where he is going with the ball and stares down some reads. Webb should start out his NFL career as a backup, but he has the physical potential to develop into a starter."

It's that decision making issue and the fact that Davis will have to overcome his system quarterback label, like all spread quarterbacks, that will put Webb in the middle rounds of the draft. The same Walterfootball.com excerpt puts Webb in rounds 2 through 4.

Some expect Webb to go sooner rather than later in the upcoming draft:

The NFL.com draft profile lists Webb's NFL comparisons as Nick Foles and Brock Osweiller. Not great. I can see him turning into a Joe Flacco type who can excel in a vertical passing game, not unlike the Arizona Cardinals. Davis Webb's deep throw is his best quality.

There's consensus here that Davis Webb is, at the very least, in the second tier of the draft eligible quarterbacks. That would put Webb as the 5th - 8th quarterback off the board, or in the late 2nd through 4th rounds.
