Davis Webb will leave the Texas Tech football program this spring.

1340 The Fan first reported that Webb would follow recently departed Texas Tech coach Mike Jinks to Bowling Green on Dec. 14. Webb has finally confirmed that report by posting a message about his pending departure on his personal Twitter page.

"After consulting with Coach Kingsbury, we both agreed it would be in my best interest to pursue other opportunities to further my education and playing career," said Webb. "I look forward to graduating this spring and I will immediately begin the process of finding a place that fits me both academically and athletically."

Kingsbury chose sophomore quarterback Patrick Mahomes to lead the Red Raiders on the field in the 2015 season.

During an interview with 1340 The Fan's Rob Snyder and Aaron Brodie at Texas Tech's Football Media Day, Webb addressed the then-competition between himself and Mahomes for the starting QB job, along with how he's always strove to overcome adversity.

It's not clear if Webb will indeed head to Bowling Green or to another school.
