The Texas Tech volleyball team opens Big 12 play Saturday night from the United Spirit Arena as the Kansas Jayhawks come to town. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The Red Raiders are 6-10 all-time in conference openers with their last win coming in 2007 against Colorado. Since the win over the Buffaloes, Texas Tech has been swept in four straight conference openers.

Texas Tech enters the weekend looking to snap a three-match losing streak after falling in five sets Wednesday at Nevada. The losses mark the first time during Don Flora’s tenure as head coach the Red Raiders have lost multiple matches in a row.

After winning 11 of the last 12 contests, Kansas now controls the overall lead in the series with Texas Tech as the Jayhawks are 17-16 all-time against the Red Raiders

Following the conclusion of Saturday’s game the Red Raiders return to the road next Wednesday against TCU.
