Texas Tech senior golfer Clement Sordet, a native of  Charbonnieres, France, represented Europe over the weekend at the Palmer Cup competition at Rich Harvest Farms Golf Course in Sugar Grove, Illinois.

The Palmer Cup is an annual team golf competition between American college golfers and European college/university golfers named after legendary golfer Arnold Palmer.

The United States won the overall competition this year, defeating the Europeans 18-12 in 30 matches.

The current format consists of five four-ball matches, five foursome matches and two sets of ten singles matches for 30 points overall.

Friday, Robby Shelton of Alabama and Hunter Stewart of Vanderbilt defeated Sordet and his partner Rowin Caron, a Dutch player at Florida State, twice: once in the foursome round, and once in the four-ball round of the tournament. The Americans won both rounds with a score of 2-up.

Saturday and Sunday, Sordet was paired to play against Anders Albertson of Georgia Tech in the singles rounds of competition. Albertson defeated Sordet 2 and 1.

Sunday, Sordet won the first hole and led throughout the match and kept Europe's hopes alive briefly by returning the favor and defeating Albertson 2 and 1.

The United States clinched the Palmer Cup with near simultaneous victories by Beau Hossler and Ollie Schniederjans.Hossler defeated Pep Angles, 2 and 1, while Schneiderjans beat Max Rottluff, 5 and 3.

The Americans now lead the all-time series 10-8-1.
