It finally happened. For the first time in their 45 year history, the Los Angeles Kings have won the Stanley Cup. In games six of the Stanley Cup finals, the Kings completely dominated the New Jersey Devils 6-1.

The game was out of reach early for the Devils as the Kings scored three power play goals in a four minute span. By the second period the Kings were up 4-0 on the Devils. The Kings, the most unlikely of champions are the first eight seed in NHL history to win the Stanley Cup. Over the course of the playoffs, the Kings were an astounding 16-4.

With it being the year of the underdog, and a year of firsts for many sports around the country, here hoping the Texas Rangers can win the first world series in franchise history.
