Texas Tech and Lubbock Christian Women’s Volleyball Teams Claim Victories
Lubbock Christian University’s volleyball team has claimed their eighth consecutive win.
Jordan Goings recorded forty assists and Brittany Johnson and Bailey Jones combined for 22 kills, as the Lady Chaps beat the University of Texas – Permian Basin last night 3 to nothing at the Rip Griffin Center.
The Lady Chaps have now had five consecutive straight-set victories, and have claimed 16 consecutive sets.
LCU is back on the road later this week, facing Mid-America Christian University Thursday in Oklahoma City.
In Texas Tech women’s volleyball, Amanda Dowdy dropped a match-high 18 kills to defeat North Texas 3 to 1 in last night’s match at the Mean Green Volleyball Center.
Tech had to come from behind in the game against UNT, for the first time since the season opener at TCU. Tech allowed North Texas to take a one set lead early in the game, but Tech rallied to win the next three frames, extending its winning streak to 13-straight.
Tech head coach Don Flora said “We faced some adversity tonight, but I was proud of how this team battled back and took charge. That will be a trait we will need once Big 12 play begins.”
The team will open Big 12 play against 16th ranked Iowa State at 1 p.m. Saturday at the United Spirit Arena.
