The first half of the AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl featured a little bit of everything: big plays, defensive stops and the teams exchanging punts.

After the touchdown pass, Texas Tech lined up in the swinging gate formation and ended up going for two. Cameron Baton's pass was incomplete, giving LSU a 7-6 lead.

One play after the kickoff, D.J. Chark busted open a 79-yard touchdown run for an immediate response to the Tech score. With the PAT, LSU led 14-6 with 0:29 left in the 1st quarter.

By the end of the first half, LSU had extended that lead to 21, with the Red Raiders scoring another 7 to make it 21-14.
