Texas Tech Red Raider Softball dropped their first game of the season Friday afternoon in the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, AZ. The Northwestern Wildcats scored five runs in the third inning leading to a 14-6 trouncing of the Red Raiders  in six innings Friday afternoon in the Kajikawa Classic at the Tempe Sports Complex.

Texas Tech jumped out to 4-0 nothing lead in the top of the first inning with three walks and two hits to take the early lead on the Wildcats in their season opener. The Wildcats answered back in the bottom of the first with three runs and took the lead for good in the third inning with five runs to take an 8-4 lead.

Tech would rally in the fourth inning with a pair of runs, but that would all the scoring for the Red Raiders in the first of two games they were scheduled to play on Friday. Northwestern would 2 runs fifth and four in the sixth to end run rule the Red Raiders.

Texas Tech will take on No. Tennessee Friday night at 8 p.m.
