Texas Tech football is currently in the midst of a bye week, and Red Raiders head coach Matt Wells has decided to make a change at quarterback.

Wednesday afternoon (October 14th), Wells announced that Alan Bowman has been demoted to backup, and Henry Colombi promoted to starting quarterback.

Texas Tech is currently in last place in the Big 12 Conference with a record of 1-3, 0-3. The Red Raiders' next game is Saturday, October 24th against West Virginia.

Colombi is a senior transfer from Utah State and he's played in parts of two Texas Tech games this season, including last week's loss at Iowa State. Colombi went 40/54 passing, with a 74 percent completion percentage, for 359 yards with three touchdowns and one interception.

Bowman has started all four of Texas Tech's games this season. He's gone 86/133 passing, with a 64.7 percent completion percentage, for 875 yards with seven touchdowns and four interceptions. Bowman missed time during the Kansas State game due to an injury, then was pulled in the fourth quarter of the Iowa State game.

Don Williams, from the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, will appear on Thursday's edition of Ryan Hyatt's Raiderland at 12:35 p.m. to discuss this change at quarterback for the Red Raiders. Ryan Hyatt's Raiderland can be heard in Lubbock on Talk 1340 and in San Angelo on ESPN 960.
