Alan Bowman Is Out of the Hospital, Will Be Back With the Team Thursday
Texas Tech's True Freshman quarterback Alan Bowman is on the mend and now out of the hospital.
Texas Tech University Associate Director for Athletics Communications Matt Dowdy confirmed the news via press release Wednesday night.
"Alan Bowman was released from Covenant Medical Center earlier this afternoon and will rejoin our team activities tomorrow. We are thankful for the quality of medical care he was provided by our team doctors as well as Grant Stovall, Drew Krueger and the staff at Covenant. We expect Alan to rejoin us on the field soon," said Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury in the statement.
Bowman suffered a partially collapsed lung during the game Saturday (Sept. 29th) when he was sandwiched between two West Virginia players. The quarterback thanked fans and family for their support following the injury.
"I'm thankful for the outpouring of support my family and I have received the past few days," Bowman said. "I can’t thank my teammates and our coaching staff enough for their encouragement, and I look forward to rejoining them tomorrow as we continue to pursue our goals for this season. I’d also like to thank our fans, and I can’t wait to see a great crowd of Red Raiders next week in Fort Worth."
Texas Tech has a bye week before facing off against TCU on Thursday, October 11. Kickoff is slated for 6:30 p.m. It's still unclear if Bowman will start the game for the Red Raiders.
