The 23rd ranked Lady Raiders and 25th ranked Red Raiders track teams will send 11 student athletes to compete in the NCAA Indoor Championships that are being held Friday and Saturday in College Station, from the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium. The NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships will start Friday at 4 p.m. with the women’s weight throw.

In High school playoff basketball news Riley Payne scored a game-high 29 points, as the Idalou Wildcats outscored Hallettsville 15 to 4 in overtime for a 75 to 64 victory in the Class 2A state semifinals this morning at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin. The 31 and 1 Wildcats will move on to the state title game for the second strait season, and will play for the title tomorrow with a 2 p.m. tip-off time.

The NBA leading San Antonio Spurs are back in action tonight after becoming the first Western Conference team to clinch a playoff spot. The 52 and 12 Spurs will look to win their 11th straight when tip-off gets under way at 7:30 against the last place Sacramento Kings from the AT&T Center.

The NFL Players Association has filed papers to decertify, effectively disbanding the union and giving it the chance to sue under antitrust laws if there is a lockout. After 16 days of mediated talks with the NFL, the sides could not reach agreement on a new deal. The current one expires at the end of the day, and would allow the league cto lock out its players. By decertifying, the union has cleared the way for individual players to file antitrust lawsuits against the NFL, which opted out of the CBA in 2008. It has renounced its right to represent the players in contract bargaining.

The Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Championship game is set as the Baylor Bears cruised past the Kansas State Wildcats to reach the title game; while the Texas A&M Aggies ran away in the second half of their contest against the Oklahoma Sooners to win 81 to 68. Tip-off for the Big 12 title between the Lady Bears and Aggies is set for 11 am Saturday morning and can be seen on Fox Sports Network.

The 19th ranked Red Raider softball team suffered their first loss of the season today in the opening game of the Masked Rider Invitational, as Tech fell to Alcorn State 4 to 2. The Red Raiders were however, able to bounce back in their second game of the afternoon defeating Evansville 8 to 0. Texas Tech will return to the diamond tomorrow and Sunday to wrap up the tournament, playing double headers each day beginning at one tomorrow against Evansville, and at noon on Sunday against Alcorn State.

The 14th ranked Texas Tech men’s Golf Team opened up play today in the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters. The three day tournament will begin each morning at ten a.m., and day one of the tournament saw the Red Raiders finish in 7th place on the leader-board; 11 strokes over par, while the tournament leader is instate rival and 11th ranked Texas A&M whose 8 stokes under par, and 12 stokes ahead of second place Arizona State.
