The Big 12 Conference Reinstates Football Championship Game Starting in 2017
The Big 12 Conference will take advantage of a new NCAA rule that allows conferences with less than 12 teams to hold a football championship game.
The Big 12 Conference also announced that it will not pursue the creation of a Big 12 Network on television, and nothing definitive has been determined concerning expansion.
The 2015-16 season will be a profitable one for teams in the Big 12. Each school will receive $30.4 million, an increase of 20 percent over the previous year. All 10 league members will receive a full share of the revenue distribution. In addition to distributed revenue from the Conference, Big 12 schools also retain revenue from third-tier media rights deals (Longhorn Network, FOX Sports, Learfield Sports, etc.).
