When Texas Tech basketball standout Zhaire Smith announced that he would be entering his name into the NBA draft, he also said he was not going to hire an agent. By not hiring an agent, Smith would be eligible to return to the Texas Tech basketball team if he decided to withdraw his name.

However, news has broke that Smith has hired an agent and will take his next step by entering the NBA draft. Smith himself confirmed it on Twitter.

Smith was an honorable mention Big 12 player in 2018, along with being on the All-Big 12 defensive team and All-Big 12 newcomer team. He averaged 11 points and five rebounds per game for the Red Raiders.

Many NBA mock drafts have Smith going in the first round as a lottery draft pick, with some having him go as high as no. 11 overall.

Chris Beard and company will definitely miss what Smith brought to the team, but it's a great sight if you are a Red Raider fan being able to see a player with the potential of Zhaire Smith potentially going in the top 20 of the draft.
