Will Kliff Kingsbury Channel His Inner Pop Star This Halloween? [Video]
In 2013, Kliff Kingsbury had just come over to Texas Tech after living the high life at Texas A&M for a season with Johnny Manziel. Before that, he was in Houston...dressing like Justin Bieber for Halloween?
"That worked pretty well," Kingsbury said in an interview back in 2013. "It was some bad hair and some purple and white jeans."
Fast forward to 2018, when an older and wiser Kliff Kingsbury was asked if he was going to break that out of the closet for this year's festivities.
"Not gonna do that ever again. One time deal...at a low point in my life," Kingsbury said to 1340 The Fan's Jacob Estrada during a press conference.
As Kingsbury finished answering the question, he looked pensively into his past as if to relive many bad decisions. And then, for a moment, he flashes a glimmer as if there was a story on the verge of his lips of himself in a bar having everyone calling him "Biebs" before snapping quickly back to reality.
There are many signs that Kingsbury has matured in his years as the head coach of the Texas Tech Red Raiders, and this could be the clearest of signs. Also, a 2018 Bieber costume would be much more labor intensive, with all the tattoos and what not.
If Kingsbury isn't going to be Bieber, who should he be for Halloween?
Texas Tech heads into the final five games of the 2018 season with a 5-2 overall record. Their next game is against Iowa State in Ames, Iowa. Since this is the last game before Halloween, maybe Kliff could dress as Nick Saban and just kick Iowa State's ass?
The game is slated for an 11 a.m. kickoff on ESPN2. SportsRadio 1340 The Fan will air Countdown to Kickoff with Rob Breaux and Karson Robinson from 9 - 11 a.m. Listen on the air (1340 AM), online or with the free 1340 The Fan app.
