‘Tornado Alley Tattoo Expo’ Brings Tattoo Culture To Lubbock This Weekend
When I first got really interested in tattoos- and the culture surrounding them- I was 18, and if I wanted to go to a tattoo related event I had to travel hundreds of miles to Dallas, Austin, etc. Tattoo expos were a big deal, a chance to meet artists I had only ever seen in magazines.
Orlando Romo has formed his own unique, new event, the Tornado Alley Tattoo Expo- and based on everything I've seen so far- it's being done right. This is not a traveling expo put on by out-of-towners or newcomers. Orlando Romo has been tattooing in Lubbock and other parts of Texas for many years. He knows what people want- and wants to give us the expo we deserve.
In addition to the standard booths abuzz with folks getting tattooed- this Expo will feature vendors with unique gifts and tattoo related merch, daily tattoo competitions featuring the best in the business, and an incredible line-up of entertainment. Aerialist Hell Cat Penny will twist and turn above our heads, professional comedians will make us laugh- and there's even a coloring contest for kids. The first ever Queen of Hearts Pin Up Pageant will feature several beautiful women in pin-up style clothing, hair and makeup competing for a $1000 first prize. Regardless of whether or not you get tattooed, this event is for everyone who loves tattoo culture.
The event is being held at the glamorous Clarion Grand Park Event Center- they're even going to have drink specials. This is the promises to be a party- and at $20 for day ticket and $30 for the entire weekend- a bargain for entertainment, fun, and most importantly- the chance to meet amazing artists from around the country.
