Texas Tech Soccer improved their record to 3-1 on the season with a 2-0 win over Saint Mary's yesterday at the John Walker Soccer Complex.

The Red Raiders struck early with Jessica Disabella scoring in the sixth minute.  Then midfielder Haley Haagsma (pictured) tacked on an insurance goal in the 30th minute. The goal was the first of her career.

"It was an impressive bounce back for us," head coach Tom Stone said after the match. "The players were all business from the opening minute - determined to get the result and convert their chances. We had been all over the goal for three straight games so it was nice to finally hit the back of the net tonight. "

"Haagsma was having a great freshman year when she got hurt last season and she has worked extremely hard to get back on the field for us," said Stone. "Her work rate is tremendous and her ball winning in the air was fantastic this weekend. Getting her first career goal tonight was just rewards for the work she's put in. Haley's return has definitely made us better."

Redshirt freshman, Gabby Kaufman made her first career start at goalkeeper and was credited with four saves on the night for her first shutout of her career.

Tech later this week will hit the road for its first road match of the season against No. 8 Florida.  Game time is set for Friday night, 6 o'clock Central Time.
