This nonprofit, and funds from this event, help a very rare genetic disease that affects children and causes complete blindness, deafness, type 2 diabetes, dilated cardiomyopathy, congestive heart failure, COPD, and kidney and liver failure. Alström Syndrome is a rare, hereditary genetic disorder. Most children are lost in their late teens and early 20s  due to these medical complications.

They are still asking for donations for their auction and you can reach out to them on their Facebook page for more information and details. This nonprofit and disease has a very special place in Lubbock and in the hearts of the Johnston family.
