On Tuesday, January 18th, 2022, a Lubbock man pleaded guilty to three separate counts of aggravated assault.

KAMC News reports that 30-year-old Baldo Gonzales, Jr. admitted to assaulting three women in 2018.

The first incident happened in May 2018. Gonzales had met at a hotel with a woman that he had been dating for around 6 months. It's said that he got angry over something he found on her phone and shattered it by bending it at a 90-degree angle. What exactly Gonzales found on the phone wasn't specified. He then started repeatedly punching her in the face.

At one point, Gonzales grabbed the phone's charging cable and wrapped it around the woman's neck. The woman was eventually able to escape. Police located her with a bloody nose, bloody mouth and a baseball-sized bruise on her shoulder. Police also confirmed blood in various spots all around the hotel room. The woman was treated at University Medical Center.

About a month later, in June, Gonzales had threatened a different woman with a gun. A few months after that, in October, he reportedly used a knife to threaten another woman.

Gonzales has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison.
