Squash Can Be Used to Enhance Just About Any Meal

Fall is a great time of year for squash -- not only on the table as a decoration, but also to eat. Brenda Garcia with United Supermarkets joined me today to discuss the benefits of squash and how you can incorporate it into your diet.
Garcia talked about her favorite type of squash that you can find at United Supermarkets and Market Street, which is called Delicata Squash. It's a winter variety of squash that's cream-colored with green stripes. According to Garcia, the Delicata Squash is tender to cut and has a sweeter taste. In fact, the squash has been called the Sweet Potato Squash.
Garcia said squash is a great source of fiber and Vitamin A and it also pairs well with just about all types of foods, including beef and chicken.
Last week, Garcia talked about how October is National Seafood Month. She reminded listeners that seafood is a great source of nutrition, and you can use squash as a side item with seafood. Remember that when you're shopping, the seafood department at United Supermarkets locations can always provide advice. Customers can also schedule tours with dieticians at Market Street locations for more answers to questions.
