One Person Was Found Dead Near the 18th Hole at Amarillo Golf Course
The groundskeeper at Comanche Trail Golf Course in Amarillo was going about his business as usual this morning when he found a dead body near a shed by the 18th green.
According to reports, police were called after the body was found just after 7 a.m. on Monday, April 19th. A golfer at the course that morning said people were still playing on the front and back nine holes on the south side of the course, the report added.
Police have since released the name of the victim as 53-year-old William Patton. That same report says that police are still investigating and have not said whether or not they suspect foul play in Patton's death, or if it was accidental.
The fact that the body has been identified does mean that there has been progress in the investigation as they try to figure out exactly what happened on the 19th hole of Comanche Trail at some point before 7 a.m. on Monday morning, April 19th.
The Comanche Trail Golf Course in Amarillo hosts numerous high school and junior high golf tournaments as well as public tournaments, though it doesn't seem like one was underway the morning that the body was found.
Amarillo will host the Red Raiders and Oklahoma Sooner baseball teams on April 20th for a Red Dirt Rivalry game hosted at the Sod Poodles home stadium, Hodgetown.
