The No. 13 Texas Tech Lady Raiders made short work of Cal State Bakersfield Thursday night in Maggie Dixon Surf N’ Slam Classic 81-63.

Texas Tech (11-0) was led in scoring by Kierra Mallard and Shauntal Nobles with 14 points apiece with Monique Smalls adding 10 points while Cal State Bakersfield (3-14) had a big effort from Kristine Herman with 19 points.

The Lady Raiders took a 35-20 halftime lead over a beleaguered Bakersfield squad hit with injuries and have only seven players on their active roster. The Road Runners made a run at the Lady Raiders in the second half, but were still outscored 46-43.

Texas Tech dominated the paint and the rebound margin with a whopping 56-26 advantage over Bakersfield despite shooting only 38% from the field. The Road Runners shot 38% as well, but with 21 fewer shot attempts (55) than Texas Tech (76).

Texas Tech will look to take the Surf N’ Slam championship tomorrow night against the host team San Diego.
