A Midland man was arrested this week and accused of threatening a mass shooting at a Lubbock hospital.

According to the arrest warrant, 45-year-old Thomas Matthew Fricke called Covenant Children's to receive an update about his grandchild, who was in critical condition after having been the subject of violent abuse at the hands of his parents, Gary Lee Fox and Makayla Fricke. Both are in custody at the Lubbock County Detention Center.

When Fricke did not receive all the information he wanted, he allegedly "threatened to shoot up the hospital." The arrest warrant said: "Someone had just called the PICU at [the hospital] and threatened to shoot all of the nurses and the baby in bed #8.”

According to KAMC News, police located Fricke by phone. Fricke admitted to calling Covenant Children's, but denied making threats.

Fricke was arrested Monday for making a terrorist threat, and was booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $200,000 bond.

He was also charged with a parole violation, according to jail records.
