UPDATED 2/2/2019

When we originally posted this story several months ago, we were asked by KEJS to remove it.

We had been told by KEJS that there was no agreement to sell the station to Houston based Houston Christian Broadcasters.

Since then we found out that the station was, in fact, sold pending FCC approval.

Here is this LINK to the FCC  that verifies this sale along with its application.

ORIGINAL STORY BELOW

Sad news for Tejano music lovers in Lubbock. It was announced today from All Access that Power 104.3 KEJS-FM has been sold.

From All Access:

In a deal yet to appear in the FCC database, HOUSTON CHRISTIAN BROADCASTERS, INC. is buying Tejano KEJS (POWER 104.3)/BROWNFIELD-LUBBOCK, TX from BARTON BROADCASTING COMPANY...

It is not clear when the station will change formats, but expect it to be soon. The new format is expected to be Christian based out of KHCB in Houston.

Authors Note:

I worked for the Barton family for almost 2 years both on-air and as the chief engineer. The only thing I would have wished for was for another Hispanic Broadcaster to have picked up the station and continued the legacy of Tejano music in Lubbock.
