It's been a while since we have heard anything about a possible second location of H-E-B in Lubbock, but that could be changing in the near future. Signs of change are already happening in the area where the new store is supposed to be located.

H-E-B opened their first Lubbock location at 114th Street and Quaker Avenue on October 28th, 2020. Shortly before the opening, KAMC and others reported that H-E-B had purchased land in Lubbock for another location.

The second location is supposed to be built next door to Yates Flooring Center, located at 19th and the West Loop off Frankford Ave. At the time, Yates Flooring Center announced that H-E-B had purchased the rest of the shopping center where it's located, according to KAMC:

Yates Flooring Center provided confirmation on Friday morning that H-E-B purchased land in West Lubbock.

Yates said: “Yates Flooring Center announced today that H-E-B has purchased land for a second location located at 19th and the West Loop near Frankford and will neighbor Yates Flooring Center.”

Yates responded to questions from EverythingLubbock.com because rumor were already circulating. Yates will still be at its same location and H-E-B will be next door.

Other reports from 2020 say that the building in the parking lot will be torn down and that the store would sit in between Yates Flooring Center and Audi.

Since those reports, not much has happened, but at the end of December, Ramsower's Furniture announced they were moving to 4525 Milwaukee Avenue. If you drive by that shopping center, you'll see empty buildings. Lubbock in the Loop has reported that the groundbreaking is expected to happen early this year.

While we still don't have a firm date, there are signs that things are changing at 19th and Frankford.
