Lubbock’s Mugshot Monday: 43 People Arrested, One Man For Stalking
This year is going by fast and surprisingly there were not a lot of people in the Lubbock County Detention Center but if you were stuck there then you might have missed these small tidbits of information. Lubbock's tallest building is set to open and is about to start allowing people to move in soon. That's right the Metro Tower is about to be home of a few very lucky people who will have the greatest view in the Hub City, especially during football games and fair season.
Unfortunately, those residents will not get to see the view of Joyland all lit up this summer due to it closing permanently. Some of the rides are even being auctioned off to new homes, no word as to if those new homes will be in the city or far away. Will someone please buy me the lion water fountain near the bumper cars? Also the amusement park will be missed but at least we get to indulge in some cornbread this week.
The Hospice of Lubbock is holding their annual Mayors' Beans and Cornbread Luncheon for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic started. Which means you have to go and purchase tickets because it's for a good cause, you can cheat on that 2023 diet that I am just remembering about. You can also try some Texas style coffee which I am willing to try but I am not a fan of coffee. You may be wondering how I function and I don't I am just 8 prairie dogs in a polo and jeans.
This past week also marked the long awaited results of the capital murder trial of Officer Floyd East Jr. who was shot in the back of the head by former college student Hollis Daniels. The trial started off with Daniels admitting to his guilt but continued due to prosecutors who were seeking the death penalty in this case. The jury did have to take three full days to come to a verdict when it came to the sentencing of Daniels, more information on that can be found here.
These 43 mugshots are of people who were arrested during the week of February 20 - February 26, 2023 and held in the Lubbock County Detention Center. Everyone featured is innocent until proven guilty and have only been charged with at least one felony, be it State Jail Felony, Third Degree Felony, Second Degree Felony, First Degree Felony, a Capital Felony or were arrested and held on a Fugitive Warrant or Detainer, a United States Marshall Remand, or Immigration Customs Enforcement Detainer.
