A Lubbock man has been accused of assaulting another man with a metal tire jack tool back on Monday, September 28th.

Officers responded to the 2700 block of Dartmouth Street at around 8:45 p.m. after receiving reports of an aggravated assault.

KAMC News reports the victim, who hasn't been identified, suffered an open wound, swelling and bruising to his head above his left eyebrow. He was transported to University Medical Center by EMS with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect, 20-year-old Ivan Encarnacion, said that he got upset at the victim because of the tone of voice he used towards a neighborhood child. While he did admit to getting upset at the victim, it's unclear if he directly confessed to the assault while officers were on scene.

Encarnacion told one of the officers that he and the victim were "somewhat in a relationship."

The victim says a dispute happened because Encarnacion was jealous that the victim was talking to someone else in the neighborhood. There was no mention from the victim of any "aggressive tone" towards a child.

The victim has said that Encarnacion approached him and attacked him with the metal tire jack tool, saying he was "going to kill him."

Encarnacion remains booked in the Lubbock County Detention Center for aggravated assault and attempted burglary of a habitation. He was also charged for resisting arrest, according to jail records.

His bond has been set at $30,000.
