Along with talking about the Kansas win in the Monday press conference, Kliff Kingsbury had plenty to say about his next opponent, the Baker Mayfields of Oklahoma. That's what they call themselves now, right? The Oklahoma BMs?

Coach Kingsbury had positive things to say about Oklahoma's offense and new Offensive Coordinator Lincoln Riley. "Tons of great skill players. Lincoln's done a nice job of adapting to the personnel and putting his spin on things," he said, adding: "He did a great job at East Carolina developing that quarterback."

The coach continued, praising Riley's work with the offense.

"He's doing a great job with his quarterback now, finding different ways to get those running backs the ball in space and get those receivers the ball," said Kingsbury. "He's a smart mind. They picked it up quick."

Kingsbury also spoke highly of the position groups, specifically. "A good quarterback, two good running backs, probably better than anyone else in the country," he said. "Very skilled wide receiver, Shepard, one of the best route runners in the country. Great offensive line. They can attack you in a lot of different ways."

As far as defense, Kingsbury pointed to a couple things Texas Tech needs to accomplish to compete and slow down Oklahoma's high-powered offense.

"We have to defensively try to create some turnovers somehow and hopefully slow them down a little bit," said Kingsbury.

Obviously, the press conference shifted to former Red Raider/present Oklahoma mascot Baker Mayfield.

"The little film I've watched on him, he's developed very well," Kingsbury admitted. "He's playing at a high level. There's nothing that I know about him that could help us."

Kingsbury also touched on their complicated past and if it will help him prepare to stop him.

"He's older, more mature. Lincoln's done a nice job with his scheme, and they're playing very well as an offense," he said.

Coach Kingsbury talked a little bit about the current team's thoughts on Mayfield.

"They're all buddies. Any time you play your former teammates, former coaches, you're going to be excited on both sides," he said. "I don't know how much motivation that will be, but I'm sure they'll all be fired up to go against each other."

Hey Coach, is this Baker Mayfield story line overplayed?

"For me, yes. That happened two years ago really, 21 months, something like that," Kingsbury said. "It's two good football teams. I don't want to take away from that based on that story line. So I'm excited to watch those two teams go at it."

Not only does Oklahoma have a pretty good offense, but they also have a defense that can hold its own.

"Mike Stoops has always done a tremendous job defensively with his schemes," Kingsbury said about Oklahoma's defense. "Brings a lot of different looks, and up front it's as good a group as we'll face, I think, since Baylor. We'll have to play a lot better than we did last week."

The injury updates were short and sweet: Le'Raven Clark is day to day, and Devin Lauderdale will be closer to 100 percent this week in Norman, Oklahoma.
