Earlier this week, SportsRadio 1340 The Fan's Rob Snyder & Aaron Brodie had the chance to interview Texas Tech Football head coach Kliff Kingsbury during Texas Tech Football Media Day.

Kingsbury reiterated his plan on choosing a starting quarterback. He will have Davis Webb and Patrick Mahomes battle it out during the first two weeks of preseason camp and then announce a starter after the second scrimmage.

Kingsbury was asked about a 'player to watch' on the defensive side of the ball. "Micah Awe to me jumps out, he's a guy last due to certain circumstances didn't play as much as we should have played him (last year)," he said. "(Awe) is very athletic, very fast, he will strike you. I think he's a guy who around the Big 12 people are going to get to know very soon when you watch him play."

Awe is a senior linebacker who started four of the 12 games he played last year. Awe recorded 69 tackles with one sack.

Concerning the offense, Kingsbury gave his thoughts on if the offensive line could help DeAndre Washington rush for over 1,000 yards again in 2015. "I hope so, I think it's an experienced group," he said. "I know they took a lot of pride in that benchmark in an otherwise down year, that was a positive for those guys and DeAndre. DeAndre's worked harder than he ever has, and so has that offensive line group. So, as a unit, I expect them to be better and hopefully we can run the ball enough to do that."

Kingsbury also said he will play a large number of starters on special teams again this season. Concerning this year's uniforms, Kingsbury didn't provide any details other than saying he thinks the fans will like them.
