Kevin Garnett has opted to return to the Boston Celtics after considering retirement.

The forward will receive a three-year, $34 million deal, according to Yahoo! Sports.

The NBA's free-agent period begins at midnight ET Sunday and players can officially start signing contracts on July 11.

Garnett, 36, averaged 15.8 points and 8.2 rebounds per game during the regular season but upped his averages to 19.2 and 10.3 in the playoffs. It was his fifth season in Boston after 12 years in Minnesota.

The Celtics have other free agents to deal with, most notably shooting guard Ray Allen. Other than Allen, Brandon Bass, Marquis Daniels, Keyon Dooling, Jeff Green, Ryan Hollins, Sasha Pavlovic and Mickael Pietrus are all on the market.
