Keke Coutee Named Big 12 Special Teams Player Of The Week
Along with being named 1 of the 10 semifinalists for the Biletnikoff award which is awarded to the best receiver in the nation earlier today, Texas Tech Receiver, Keke Coutee has been named the Big 12 Special Teams Player of the week.
This is the first time a Red Raider has been named a semifinalist for the Biletnikoff Award since Jace Amaro made it past the first round of voting in 2013. The list for the award will be cut down to just three players on November 20th with the winner being announced on December 7th.
Coutee electrified early when he took the opening kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown. That was the first kickoff return for a touchdown this year and the first time since 1973 that Tech took the opening kickoff for a touchdown.
Coutee becomes the fifth Red Raider to receive a Big 12 weekly award this season alone, joining Ja’Deion High (Special Teams on Sept. 18), Dakota Allen (Defensive on Sept. 25), DaMarcus Fields (Newcomer on Oct. 2) and Desmond Nisby (Newcomer on Oct. 9). This is the first time in school history five different Red Raiders have been recognized with a conference weekly award.
The Red Raiders return to Jones AT&T Stadium for the final time this season Saturday when Tech hosts TCU in an 11 a.m. kickoff on FOX Sports 1.
