Some big news drops today before the Texas Tech and Texas matchup, as Jett Duffey was confirmed as the starting QB. It's not a surprise that Duffey is taking the reigns today, but there was some posturing during the week that McLane Carter was nearing his return.

The bigger news is that Texas will be without Collin Johnson, who's an NFL-caliber receiver who caught two touchdowns the last time he was in Lubbock, Texas, and has 50 receptions and five touchdowns with 675 yards this season.

The Longhorns are also down a starting safety, with Brandon Jones ruled out for the game.

Texas Tech's senior linebacker Dakota Allen is starting tonight after missing the final three quarters against Oklahoma last week.
