Todd Orlando burst onto the Texas Tech scene like a sunburst, glowing new light into a dark existence. The Red Raiders' defense was poor again in 2019, though there were some improvements.

On January 8th, 2020, Todd Orlando was hired by Matt Wells to coach the team's linebackers. Now, 12 blissful days later, Orlando is rumored to be the next Defensive Coordinator of the USC Trojans.

You can't blame Orlando here. It's an upgrade to go from LBs coach to DC regardless of the jump if it's inside the Power 5.

The USC move isn't confirmed yet, but according to Lubbock A-J sports reporter Don Williams, "A Texas Tech official confirmed Monday that Orlando is no longer working for the program."

Now Matt Wells will need to fill the role, or hire a new safeties coach and move Keith Patterson back to LBs where he was last season.
