Houston Falls to Oakland 5-4 on Wednesday Night
The Houston Astros drop to 56-78 on the year yesterday as they fell to the Oakland Athletics by a final score of 5-4. The Astros scored twice in the seventh to take a one-run lead, with Robbie Grossman and Jose Altuve coming through with clutch two-out singles on 3-2 pitches. Grossman's bloop hit to right off Fernando Abad scored Matt Dominguez, and Altuve shot a single up the middle to score Carlos Corporan and put the Astros ahead. That would not last though as they allowed three runs in the top of the ninth inning to give Oakland the win. Reliever Chad Qualls took the loss for Houston as he gave up the three runs in the ninth.
With the loss, the Astros now sit at 56-78 which is 24 games back in the American League West. Houston will now begin a four game weekend series against the Texas Rangers today as they look to bounce back from this series loss. First pitch for that game is set for 7:10pm from Minute Maid Park with the pregame beginning at 6:45pm.
