Josh Jung is one of the most anticipated prospects in Major League Baseball, especially in the Texas Rangers organization where he ranks atop the prospect rankings for the entire farm system.

After breaking his foot near the end of spring training, the former Red Raider finally made his minor league debut for the Frisco RoughRiders on Tuesday, June 16th against the Houston Astros Double-A affiliate the Corpus Christi Hooks.

Jung debuted as the DH for the RoughRiders and hit third in the batting order.

Last night in Corpus Christi, though, Josh Jung was not the brightest shining former Red Raider. The real Red Raider star in the park last night though was Parker Mushinski.

Mushinski allowed a two-out single to Josh Jung in the first inning, then picked him off at first base before he retired the next 14 batters. That span included seven straight swinging strikeouts, with eight of nine from the third through fifth innings. Jung went down swinging to end the fourth inning.

Mushinski got through 6.0 without allowing a walk on just two hits while notching 11 strikeouts to his belt -- a career-high for the Red Raider who pitched at Texas Tech from 2015-17. The Hooks would win the game 3-0.

Mushinski was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 7th round of the 2017 MLB draft and debuted at the AA level with the hooks this season with up and down moments like most minor league pitches. His start against Frisco a definite up.

Jung will have plenty of other opportunities this season as he tries to prove that he has the chops to be called up this season with the Rangers floundering at the Major League level stuck between a full-blown rebuild and being flat-out bad.
