Gang Member Arrested in Lubbock for Assault and Robbery
Lubbock Police arrested a member of the West Texas Tango gang for aggravated assault and aggravated robbery.
Police say that at around 9:25 p.m. on December 14th, calls came in reference to a man threatening to shoot an employee at the Walmart located at 1911 Marsha Sharp Freeway. Allegedly, the man punched the employee after displaying a firearm and fled the scene.
Minutes later, the same man shot someone while robbing them in the 300 block of Sherman Avenue, according to police.
LPD Person Crimes detectives were able to quickly identify the man as 26-year-old Matthew Benites, who was arrested for the assault at Walmart. Benites served an additional warrant for the robbery after his arrest.
