15 Shots Fired at Lubbock Park After Suspect Says ‘I’m Gonna Smoke Her’
Multiple witnesses said that they heard around 15 shots being fired during an argument at a Lubbock park on Sunday, September 19th.
One witness at the scene said that at around 4:30 p.m., he noticed multiple people arguing in the street in front of his house near Washington Park, located at 2102 Cedar Avenue. Around that time, the witness says he heard 15 gunshots and multiple vehicles driving away.
Another witness said he was driving nearby when he heard the shots, so he circled back around to see if anyone was injured.
Upon arrival, officers found 15 shell casings in two different locations in the street, indicating that two parties opened fire towards each other. KAMC News reports that small pools of blood were also found in the area.
Shortly afterward, officers were notified that two gunshot victims had arrived at University Medical Center. At UMC, an officer talked with the one of the two victims. They said he arrived at the scene to find multiple people arguing with his sister over an incident that happened at a club the night before. The victim said that around this time, a suspect, who wasn't publicly identified, pulled out a handgun and opened fire.
The other victim said that the suspect said at one point, "When she gets here, I'm gonna smoke her."
So far, no arrests have been made.
