Throughout the season we'll be keeping an eye on not only the Houston Astros but the Top 5 in MLB on a weekly basis, you can check out the entire list here.

The Houston Astros were red hot last week taking six of seven games against the Kansas City Royals and finishing the week with an emphatic sweep of the Texas Rangers.

Houston sits at 26-15 to begin this season and this week they've climbed back up in the weekly power rankings to 2nd overall.

Here is this week's Top 5:

  1. Los Angeles Dodgers (27-16)-Steady at 1
  2. Tampa Bay Rays (24-15)-Down one to 3
  3. Houston Astros (26-15)-Up one to 2
  4. Chicago Cubs (24-14)-Up one from 5
  5. Minnesota Twins (25-14)-Up two to 5

Last week the Houston Astros enjoyed some home cooking but this week they'll be back on the road for the entire week playing six games. They'll kick off the week by squaring off with the Detriot Tigers (18-20) for three games (Mon-Wed) and then three with the Boston Red Sox (22-19) to finish out the week with a travel day on Thursday.

A couple of teams who struggled last week around Major League Baseball were the St. Louis Cardinals (22-19) who went 2-5 this past week against the Philadelphia Phillies (23-16) and the Pittsburgh Pirates (20-17) they dropped from 4th in the rankings to 9th. Also, the Seattle Mariners continue their free fall down the rankings as this week they fell from 15th to 19th after posting a 1-6 mark against the Red Sox and the New York Yankees (24-16)

As for a team that made a significant leap upwards this week take a look at the Cincinnati Reds as they climbed from 24th up to 17th this past week. They went about that by starting off slowing, dropping two of three at Oakland to the A's (19-23) but then took three of four from the Giants in SF (17-23).
