Despite getting down 2-0 early, Mexico rallied back to defeat the U.S. in the Gold Cup finals 4-2 at the Rose Bowl.

The U.S. got up early, with Michael Bradley putting the U.S. on the board  in the 8th minute with a 10-yard header off Freddy Adu's corner kick, and shortly thereafter Landon Donovan made and 11-yard shot inside the left post. This made it a 2-0 game in favor of the U.S. at the 23 minute mark but Mexico came back in force.

Pablo Barrea scored score 2 goals in the game for Mexico and the biggest one may have been his first. It came at the 29 minute mark to put Mexico on the board and snap U.S. goalkeeper Tim Howard's 351 minute shut out stretching over 3 games.

Coach Bob Bradley of the U.S. had this to say about the goal:

Mexico finally took the lead at the 50th minute on Barrea's second score on a 10-yard-shot underneath a diving Howard. Andres Guardado also scored for Mexico to end all hopes of a U.S. rally.

While the game was in the U.S. the 93,420 crowd was almost entirely in support of Mexico and during the introduction of the U.S. team crowd chanted "Burro" after each player was called. "Burro" means "Donkey in English.

Coach Bradley had this to say about the crowd:

"Obviously, the support that Mexico has on a night like tonight makes it a home game for them. It's something that we expected. As a team, we understand that it's part of what we've got to deal with." -AP

This is Mexico's 2nd consecutive Gold Cup and 6th overall. With this win, Mexico now qualifies to play  in the Confederations Cup being held in Brazil in 2013,  a year before the World Cup.
