Late last week, Colin Schooler announced he would be returning to Texas Tech for a final year of eligibility. Since then, safety Thomas Leggett announced his intention to enter the 2021 NFL Draft, while linebacker Riko Jeffers will return for another season as a Red Raider.

"Texas Tech has been nothing short of a blessing for me," Leggett said on Twitter. "The past 3-plus years I have made bonds with my teammates and coaches that will last a lifetime."

Leggett has played three seasons for Texas Tech and racked up a total of 101 tackles, six passes defended and two sacks. In 2020, he had 51 tackles, four of which went for a loss, including a season high 9 total tackles against Texas.

Leggett's decision is certainly a loss for the Red Raiders, but the bigger loss for the team would have been Jeffers moving on to the NFL. Jeffers will instead return to Texas Tech and play a final season as a Red Raider.

Jeffers says on Twitter: "I have been blessed to spend the past four years of my life in Lubbock... I'm happy to announce I'll be calling West Texas home for one more year!"

The four-year letterman will get his fifth-year thanks to the year of eligibility given to all fall athletes in the NCAA because of the COVID complications of 2020. Jeffers had 227 tackles as a Red Raider with 25 TFLs and 6.5 sacks. He's also forced four fumbles.
