Riko Jeffers Lands on Butkus Award Watch List

Texas Tech linebacker Riko Jeffers is now on a watch list, joining quarterback Alan Bowman and running back SaRodorick Thompson.

The Butkus Award is designed to name the nation's top linebackers. Jeffers is one of 51 linebackers from college football named to the list. The senior linebacker also showed up on the All-Big 12 first-team by Phil Steele and second-team by Athlon Sports.

Jeffers has played a big role in the Red Raider defense since his true freshman season having his best season as a junior with 76 tackles and three sacks.

The Red Raiders have never won a Butkus award winner, but have had two finalists in Jordyn Brooks and Zach Thomas.
