Ex-Red Raider Tony Jones Joins Dakota Allen in Los Angeles

The Rams locked in two defenders from the Texas Tech roster: Dakota Allen in the 7th round of the NFL draft, and now, Tony Jones as an undrafted free agent.

Jones will compete for a role on special teams as a rookie and can excel in that role. He's not really big enough to play the same role in the NFL that he filled in college, but in the ever-evolving league, the spread offense might force NFL defenses to play even more nickel and dime than they already play. Jones could fill a spread linebacker roll.

If he makes the roster, he'll get to beat, or at least play, his old college coach two times a year.
