The Texas Tech Red Raider football team started 2012 with a much needed win by defeating Northwestern State 44-6 on Saturday night at Jones AT&T Stadium.  The new look Red Raider defense showed up to play in this game.  The defense did not allow a touchdown, and only gave up 84 total yards to the Demons.  On the flip side, Seth Doege led the Tech offense to 500 total yards in the game.

"I thought my performance was average," said Doege.  "I don't think I threw the ball particularly well and I pride myself on being one of the most accurate passers."

Doege threw an interception in the opening series and said the ball was a little wet and was also a bit excited.

"I thought I did a good job managing the game," Doege said.  "I just got to keep improving and ready to play the next one."

Doege finished 23-of-34 passing, 199 yards, a touchdown, and the interception.
