TJ Holyfield was one of two prized grad transfers to join Texas Tech this past off season and now he's off to a hot start through two games as the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week.

Obviously the first two games were against lesser opponents than what Texas Tech will face in conference play, but TJ Holyfield has shown an innate ability to find a soft spot right by the basket in his first two games to average 17.5 points for the week. He shot 15-19, mostly from inside the paint, which can be sustainable if he can continue to find open looks and his teammates continue to find him.

Holyfield averaged 12.9 points per game in his final season at Stephen F. Austin before missing last year with a shoulder injury. If the improvement he's shown offensively continues, he'll be in contention for Newcomer of the Year come March.
