A family from Smyer, Texas, has a young girl in need of an important transplant.

Three-year-old Ruby Benevedes struggles with sickle cell anemia and has been admitted to the hospital at least 24 times since birth.

According to the girl's mother, Rebbekah, the disease can cause, "...organ failure and organ damage over the years, and it can cause stroke and heart attack."

KAMC News reports that the family has partnered with an organization called Be The Match, which helps find donors for people with life-threatening blood cancers.

The right blood stem cell transplant donor could help improve the quality of life for the young girl. To see if you might be a donor match for her or others, visit bethematch.org.
