There Is A Good Chance You Are Bored Right Now
In what can only be described as downright depressing news, Americans are pretty bored during a good part of the year. According to a study of 2,000 adults, 131 days of the year are spent being bored.
According to Survey Finds, adults may not spent all day being bored but the hours of boredom certainly add up.
For the survey, the researchers defined a boring day as one that involved simply no fun at all. After averaging out responses of all participants, they calculated that Americans experience 131 boring days annually. They reached that number by converting the average “percentage of a typical week that is not fun/boring/dreaded” — which was 36% — into hours per week, or 60.48 hours. They multiplied that by 52 weeks in a year, then converted it into days: 131.04 boring or unfun days in a year.
131 days of the year may sound like a lot but when you think about it, it makes sense. A lot of people are bored at work, in traffic, or just sitting at home.
According to the results, being adults and doing adult activity makes you bored. 60% of adults said they felt as though there lives were too "gown-up" and 73% missed aspects of their younger lives like hanging out with friends and having fewer responsibilities.
Maybe boredom is just a part of growing up, but it doesn't have to be. Or at least it doesn't have to overtake your life. When you have opportunities to see friends, do it. When you have a chance to see a movie or go out for drinks, do it.
Break out of the boredom when you can, and when you can't, well it's just part of growing up.
