The New York Jets are a dumpster fire. There's not a better way to say it. The coach is a dead man walking, and they are several years away from contending in any kind of legitimate capacity. They shipped off their best defensive player to the Seahawks earlier this season, and have been shopping running back Le'Veon Bell for weeks.

The problem with trying to trade Bell at this point in his career is that the contract doesn't match the production. In that regard, the Jets were forced to just cut the veteran running back so they could get his money off the books moving forward.

That allowed the Kansas City Chiefs to swoop in and sign the guy who was regarded as the best running back in football back in 2017.

Bell took the year off in 2018 while in a contract dispute and hasn't regained the juice he had in Pittsburg in the last season and a half. You can argue that the lowest yard-per-carry average in his career has more to do with his surroundings than his talent level at 28 years old.

The Chiefs have had several running backs do their part this season. The group has been led by rookie Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who's averaging 16 attempts and 68 yards per game in the high-powered passing attack of the Chiefs. Bell will join the rotation in the next few weeks but won't completely take the gig away from the rookie.

DeAndre Washington, who was just called up this last week, probably won't stick around too long on the active roster now that Bell is in the mix.
