The Houston Texans 2021 season was one to forget. They finished 4-13, third place in the AFC South.

Through a series of trades, including the blockbuster trade of Deshaun Watson to the Cleveland Browns, the Texans have amassed a number of draft picks for both the 2022 and 2023 drafts. But mentioning 2023 is getting ahead of the game, the Texans first have to improve their team for the 2022 season.

Through the first three rounds of the 2022 draft, the Texans selected five players, four of them from SEC schools.

With a focus on improving their anemic defense, the Texans first pick on Thursday night was DB Derek Stingley, Jr. from LSU. After trading down with the Philadelphia Eagles, 12 picks later, the Texans second selection in the 1st Round was OL Kenyon Green from Texas A&M (pictured).

During Friday night's portion the draft, the Texans took three more players, two of them from SEC schools.

In the 2nd Round, at pick 37, the Texans selected DB Jalen Pitre from Baylor. Then, seven picks later, the Texans selected WR John Metchie III from Alabama (pictured, top of article). Then, for their final pick on Friday night, the Texans selected another member of the Crimson Tide: LB Christian Harris at pick 75.

The NFL Draft concludes on Saturday with Rounds 4-7.
