The Houston Astros offense has been less than stellar this season and last night was no exception.  The Toronto Blue Jays came into the game on a seven game losing streak and having been swept by Tampa Bay and the Los Angeles Dodgers in consecutive series.  All they needed to get back on track was a series with Houston.

The Astros offense could only muster two hits against Blue Jays starter Mark Buehrle who was able to go all nine innings and complete the complete game shutout.  Houston's starter Erik Bedard had another strong outing as he went five innings while giving up just one run on three hits, but due to absolutely no run supports, he was again awarded the loss.

Houston has really struggled in the month of July.  They have won just once since July 13th and have the worst record in baseball at 34-67.  It was their 18th loss in 22 games.

They will hope to turn this series around as they play game two of their four game weekend series in Toronto.  First pitched for game two is set for 6:07 pm from the Roger Center.
