The Houston Astros Beat the Minnesota Twins 10-4 Last Night

The Houston Astros were able to bounce back from Monday's loss and take game two of their mid-week series against the Minnesota Twins with their 10-4 win yesterday.  Chris Carter led the way offensively as he smashed two more home runs last night, giving him 28 homers on the year.  Since July 3, Carter is hitting .325 and leads the Majors with a .756 slugging percentage and a 1.138 OPS, in addition to the home runs.

"It's great," Astros manager Bo Porter said.  "Even early on when he was struggling, it was never from a lack of effort. It was never from getting in the video room, getting in the cage.  The same effort he's putting forth now, he was putting forth then.  You pull for guys like that and you're excited when you see a guy like that rewarded for that type of effort and that type of hard work."

Colin McHugh was on the mound for the Astros and earned the win as he went six innings giving up just one run on four hits and striking out three Minnesota batters.  Houston would jump out to an early 3-1 lead by the third inning and never look back.  "Games like today are fun to watch and fun to be a part of," McHugh said. "Hopefully we get more of these."

With the win, the Astros are now 50-70 on the year which is still 23.5 games back of the Oakland Athletics in the AL West.  Houston will wrap up their mid-week series with those Twins today with first pitch for that game set for 1:10pm from Houston.  You can hear all the action right here on Sports Radio 1340 the FAN.
