This Saturday, September 23rd, MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) will be holding their annual 5K event at the Lubbock County Courthouse, located at 904 Broadway Ave.

Registration will begin at 9 a.m., and the opening ceremonies will take place at 10 a.m.

From MADD:

We walk because together we will end drunk driving. We walk to finish the job that was started by a grieving mother in 1980. We walk with supporters who share our vision of no more drunk driving. We walk for those who no longer can, and alongside those who are learning to walk again. We walk empowered even when we feel powerless, as a survivor when we have been victimized and with purpose when we have lost our way. We walk because the need is not over. The problem is not solved. We are not satisfied with the progress.

The mission of Mothers Against Drunk Driving is to end drunk driving, help fight drugged driving, support the victims of this violent crime and to prevent underage drinking.

If you would like to register, you can go to WalkLikeMadd.org/Lubbock

It's $25 for adults over 20 years old, $20 for those aged 6-20, free for 5 and under and $10 if you bring a four-legged friend.
